The Last Border

It's funny I struggle to find my past and you, to forget it

Year: 1993
Director:
Mika Kaurismäki
Writer: Alexandra Deman, Mika Kaurismäki, Pia Tikka

Starring: Jolyon Baker, Jürgen Prochnow, Fanny Bastien, Kari Väänänen , Matti Pellonpää, Juice Leskinen, Esko Salminen, Mato Valtonen
What is this about: 90' s dystopian movie located in Nothern Finland. Finnish version of Mad Max.

Content warnings: Violence
Best about it: This is hillbillyish home made version on Mad Max, a bit more minimalistic and way more akward wich was etertaining. Dystopian brought little bit closer to the reality I'm living right now in Finland. Characters and visuality were also pleasant. Plot was not mind blowing but that's not something I expect from movies like this anyway.
How did I felt: Heart warming, entertained.
Goodness: 4/5
Weirdness: 3/5

The Prestige

The audience knows the truth: The world is simple, miserable, solid all the way through. But if you can fool them, even for a second... then you can make them wonder.

Year: 2006
Director:
Christopher Nolan
Writer: Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan, Christopher Priest
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Piper Perabo, Rebecca Hall,  Scarlett Johansson, Samantha Mahurin, David Bowie, Andy Serkis,  Daniel Davis, Jim Piddock

What is this about: Story is about two 19th-century magicians who are obsessed about their job and being better than the other one.

Content warnings: Violence (not too brutal).
Best about it: Very well carried plot with perfect amount of plot twists and partly non-chronological scenes. I also loved how it was shown that other aspects of life are neglected when the passion becomes obsession and  it's too powerful.
How did I felt: Interested, entertained, focused
Goodness: 5/5
Weirdness: 3/5

Happy together (Chun gwong cha sit)

"I always thought that I was different from Po-Wing. Turns out lonely people are all the same."

Year:  1997
Director: Wong Kar-Wai
Writer: Wong Kar-Wai, Manuel Puig Starring:
What is this about: Slow and almost minimalistic romantic drama about unhealthy relationship in Buenos Aires at 90's, attachement, yearning for intimacy at any cost and making a living to get enough money for travelling.

Content warnings: Adult content, violence
Best about it: Visuality, picture of life in big city
How did I felt: I enjoyd how this was made visually, but plot felt pretty average. Partly the relationship between main characters felt really awkward, same way it feels to see strangers fight in public spaces. Not a good mood movie but it's nothing very dark either.
Goodness: 3,5/5
Weirdness: 2/5
